Hay, Fong Saik

Mr. Fong Saik Hay was appointed in Nov 2001 as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of ST Engineering Group and concurrently President, ST Dynamics Pte Ltd from May 2002. As CTO, his role is to strategise together with the Business Units, the group technology and engineering capabilities and foster integration of multi disciplinary capabilities across the group to address increasingly complex systems. As President of ST Dynamics, he is to nurture new capabilities, concept and technology until it is useful for the business units. ST Dynamics also scouts for new technologies for ST Engineering for collaborations or investments. He serves on the Boards of Kinetics Drive Systems, Advanced Materials Engineering Pte Ltd, FusionTech, Nanoscience Innovation and ST Electronics subsidiaries such as - Satcom & Sensor Systems, Info-Software Systems, Info-Comm, Digital Media and Training & Simulation Systems. He also sits in the Management Committee of Temasek Laboratories (NTU and NUS). He is the chairman of Intellisys, a joint center between NTU and ST Engineering. Prior to his current position, he was SVP (Engineering) in ST Kinetics where he managed and directed the product development, technology acquisition, engineering human resources development and relevant support activities. Besides leading successfully the built-up of indigenous armoured vehicle design capabilities, he led investments into desalination technologies and environmentally friendly technologies such as fuel cells, electric/hybrid drives, energy efficient hydraulics, supercapacitor technology and Stirling Motors. He also chairs the Advisory Board for FaithActs, a community and youth charity. He graduated from NUS (Singapore) with first class honours in mechanical engineering in 1981. In 1985, he was conferred with Master of Science in Computer, Information and Control Engineering from University Of Michigan. He attended the 76th Program for Management Development at Harvard University in 2001. Mr. Fong enjoys golfing and reading.
