Walter (Chip) Schroeder is an operating Managing Director of WAVE Equity Partners, a Boston-based Private Equity firm investing in the global Cleantech sector. In his operating role, he is Chief Financial Officer and co-founder of Green Conversion Systems, a developer of commercial-scale energy from waste (EfW) facilities. GCS is majority owned by WAVE Equity Partners

Chip has a 30-year background in energy project development and finance. He was an officer of MidCon Corp, a major energy and pipeline company based in Chicago, until it was acquired in 1986 by Occidental Petroleum. He then moved to Goldman Sachs & Co’s corporate finance unit until 1991, when he joined the AES Corporation, a leading global independent power developer. In 1996 Mr. Schroeder founded Proton Energy Systems, a hydrogen and fuel cell technology company, and led Proton to a successful public offering in 2000. Green Conversion Systems was founded in 2007 with initial funding from Morgan Stanley & Co. Chip holds both undergraduate and Masters’ degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
