Dr. Andreas Opfermann was born in Germany in 1971. He studied Physics and Mathematics in Heidelberg and at the St. John’s College, Cambridge/UK, where he graduated with a MA degree and a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics. During his education he received several academic awards (Fellowship of Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, Award of Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes for UK studies and Award of St. John’s College Cambridge, UK).

From 1999 until 2005 he worked first as a Consultant, later as a Project Manager and Associate Principal for McKinsey & Company in Stuttgart and Frankfurt.

In March 2005, Andreas joined The Linde Group as a Senior Project Manager within the Corporate Strategy Team in Wiesbaden, during which time also the acquisition and integration of BOC into The Linde Group took place.

Andreas Opfermann was appointed “Head of Innovation Management” in February 2008. In this position he is responsible for the development of new, innovative solutions that support and create a unique profile for the Linde Group. This includes the responsibility for the business segment of “Hydrogen Solutions” and various other emerging businesses.
