Senior Advisor, Green Order & Former Vice President, Global Chevrolet at General Motors

Brent Dewar joined GreenOrder after nearly three decades as a senior executive at General Motors, where he led brand management, marketing, and sales in a variety of roles for one of the most recognized brands in the world, Chevrolet. Dewar has catalyzed environmental innovation through groundbreaking marketing efforts related to biofuels, hydrogen, and vehicle electrification. His work at GreenOrder is a continuation of this journey -- helping global enterprises advance pragmatic solutions for a more sustainable future.

Prior to joining GreenOrder, Dewar was Vice President, Global Chevrolet. He was responsible for Chevrolet brand marketing and coordination across 130 markets. His passion for the environment and his digital communication expertise re-energized the global Chevrolet brand strategy and resonated with consumers. Dewar’s responsibilities included the launch of Chevrolet’s pioneering electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt with extended range.

Before moving back to the U.S. to lead Global Chevrolet, Dewar was Vice President, sales, marketing and aftersales, for GM Europe, where he created a “Green Team” to accelerate eco strategies within GM Europe. Dewar served as a member of the General Motors European Strategy Board and the Saab Automotive Board.

In 2005, Dewar was appointed GM North America (GMNA) Vice President of Marketing and Advertising, responsible for the marketing of GM’s corporate messages, as well as the advertising for its brands in the U.S. and global marketing coordination for the Chevrolet brand. Dewar was recognized by Ad Age as the Number 1 “Power Player” for marketing and media innovation.

Dewar's support for biofuels and alternative propulsion systems laid the foundation for memorable GM marketing campaigns such as “Live Green, Go Yellow” and "Gas Friendly to Gas Free." Dewar also worked on the Chevrolet Equinox “Project Driveway,” the largest automotive hydrogen fuel cell demonstration fleet with real-world consumers.

From April 2000 to March 2003, Dewar was General Manager for GM's Northeast Region, based in New York. Subsequently, he served for two years as General Manager of Chevrolet, launching a variety of new products, as well as one of the largest advertising campaigns in the division's history.

Dewar joined General Motors of Canada in 1978, serving for a decade in a variety of management positions in sales, service, strategic planning, marketing and finance. He came to the U.S. in 1987, joining Chevrolet as manager of strategic planning. He also held several field assignments with Chevrolet before being appointed Executive Director, sales, service and marketing for General Motors Mercosul Region responsible for Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. Dewar led the Brazilian operations from 1994-2000, and the division in 1997 achieved record sales under his leadership.

A native of Vancouver, Canada, Dewar received his bachelor of commerce degree (BCOMM) in 1978 from the University of British Columbia, with a major in transportation. In 1986, Dewar received his master of business administration (MBA) degree from York University, Toronto. He lives and works in New York City.
