2015 Cleantech Forum Europe will be located at the Palazzo degli Affari – part of the Firenze Fiera Congress and Exhibition Center.
Palazzo degli Affari is a modern venue successfully combining contemporary architecture with a more modern technology. Located directly in front of the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella and surrounded by a large, centuries-old park, Palazzo degli Affari is only a few steps away from Piazza del Duomo and from the most important Florence monuments and palaces.

Cleantech Group Guidance on Hotels:
We have not checked out all possible hotels via the booking site, and of course, you are welcome to choose your own. However, as the choice is large, we thought it would be helpful to provide our delegates with a few tips:
- Staying close to the Forum venue makes the most sense. Everything is walkable – meaning you are not only close to the Forum, but also to the main arrival/departure point, Central Station (Firenze Santa Maria dei Novella).
- Within walking distance of the venue, we did a quick look at the following seven hotels, which provide a range of different styles, needs, and budgets (pricing subject to change as hotel rooms are booked):
>EUR200 per night:
- Grand Hotel Baglioni (~190 rooms; historical and classical style; fabulous views from the 5th floor breakfast room; no fitness facilities)
- Hotel L’Orologio (~50 rooms; boutique-style hotel based on the watch-collector owner’s collection; 4th floor breakfast room over the square; fitness/sauna facilities)
- Hotel Santa Maria Novella (~70 rooms; sister hotel to Hotel L’Orologio on the square; fitness/sauna facilities)
EUR160-200 per night:
- Hotel Adler Cavalieri (~60 rooms; classical/traditional style; fitness/sauna facilities)
- Hotel Ambasciatori (~140 rooms; modern, funky style; no fitness facilities)
- Hotel Albani Firenze (~90 rooms; more classical/traditional style; fitness/sauna facilities)
- Hotel Londra (~160 rooms; more functional/modern style; fitness/sauna facilities)
How to Get to Florence
Florence is a key node in the Italian railway network. For those planning a longer stay in Italy, you may want to consider the easier option of arriving in Florence by train from major cities like Milan (1.75 hours) or Rome (1.5 hours). Also of note, the Forum venue is right next to Florence’s main railway station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella.
There are two airports in Tuscany – the more local Florence Airport (FLR), with fewer direct connections; and the more distant but international option, Pisa International Airport (PSA), which is the main airport for domestic and international flights to/from Tuscany.
Timetables and destinations served:
Getting to/from Florence Airport:
The Forum venue is right next to the city’s main railway station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella. There is a Busitalia SITA Nord “Vola in Bus” bus shuttle operating between the airport and the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella (departing twice an hour, at either departure point, on the hour or the half hour, between 5am and 8pm). It takes about 20 minutes.
Tip: A one-way ticket costs €6 while a round trip ticket costs €10. Tickets can be purchased directly on board from the driver at no extra charge (but keep in mind they only sell one-way tickets on board).
A taxi is typically 15 minutes from the airport, with a fixed price of €20.
Getting to/from Pisa International Airport:
We recommend that you do not take a taxi, as they are very expensive from the airport (around €170). Better options to/from the airport are by bus or train:
The bus is a bit faster than the trains (around 70 minutes), tickets are less expensive (€6 one way), and it goes direct from Pisa International Airport to Florence’s main railway station – Firenze Santa Maria Novella – which is right next to the Forum venue. There are two companies that offer bus services: Autostradale and Terravision. Click here for more details and links to the companies and timetables.
The PisaMover shuttle bus provides a good connection between the airport and Pisa train station, running every ten minutes from 6am to 12pm, taking around eight minutes. From Pisa Centrale Station, you can catch a train to Florence’s main railway station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella. The train takes 1-1.5 hours to get to Florence and costs less than €10.
CTG Tips: You can buy train tickets in the arrivals hall at Pisa International Airport (this is easier, as the bus drops you at the far end of the station, away from the ticket office). Note some trains may stop at another Firenze station first – make sure you come off at Firenze Santa Maria Novella.
